Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s TITH a very successful event! Sorry to be a little late with this message, but it took us more than a day to recover. We had a great time and I hope you did too! We are incredibly lucky to have an amazing group of students, parents, family, alumni and friends who come out to help on this fun and busy day. All with a big smile on their face!
We had to overcome many challenges this year with the high temperatures, fires, freeway closures and traffic problems. But thanks to our great committees and dedicated volunteers, we sailed through the day.
Security was at the school by 4:00 AM to secure the campus and their team of orange vested boosters helped manage the entire campus to ensure we had a safe and organized day. Thanks to Neal West, Joe St. Martin and their team! Thanks also to Mike Fink who was here bright an early as well!
Rich Pitta was there to greet all the volunteers and Charles Hughes was busy all day long on his flat bed truck delivering ice, cleaning-up, and a whole slew of critical behind the scenes action. Thanks to both of you!
The vendor areas both inside the stadium and out were a festive site to see. We saw many patrons cooling off with a smoothie and enjoying all of the goodies we had. The spirit was very high at the Spiritwear booth and we owe a big thanks to Elaine Cantrell and Pam Irwin for their hard work and planning!
Did you eat an In-N-Out Burger? Well, you and over 1,500 people did! That along with the Baked Potatoes, Nachos, Hot Dogs, Pizza, etc… we couldn’t have had a better planned day in the Kitchen. Annamarie Bishop and Venus Woods did a remarkable job with all the shopping, chopping, staffing and selling all day long. To all kitchen volunteers - Thanks for keeping our guests happy!
Baked Goods were all smiles and laughter throughout the day. Karen Froloff, Eileen and Mark Ellis created a great booth and kept our visitors happy with all types of sweets and drinks. Thank goodness someone had the grand idea of selling water in the stands. Not only did we make more money, but it probably helped out the First Aid team. Thanks everyone in Baked Goods and on water duty!
Speaking of First Aid, they were very busy even prior to the start of the tournament and we’d like to thank Kris and Peggy Concepcion, Eileen Swift and their staff of medical professionals for taking care of the hot and weary. We would also like to thank the OC Fire Department for not only helping us at TITH (several times), but also with their hard work on the fires.
We hope you were able to see our new TITH banner at the entrance. It is beautiful! This, along with many other signs and maps, was the hard work of Patty Morris. She, along with Charles Hughes, were busy from the crack of dawn putting signs up throughout the campus. The kids helped out too! Thanks for all your help Patty and your signs team!
The Check-In group was super busy getting the schools situated, and best of all they did it with a big smile and warm greeting. Some schools had trucks delayed in traffic and they stayed calm and focused to keep things running smoothly. Ginger Blizard and Roxanne Card – thanks for coming back as alumni parents to help out!
Ticket booth sales were great thanks to Mitzi Perry, Joy Grosser and the ticket booth staff! And, did you see the beautiful programs? Laura Nygaard and Liz Yingling did a wonderful job putting that all together! Thanks to all of you who put in both personal and business ads in the program to make it special for our kids!
And where did we put those 80 buses and 71 trucks? Each had a place and it was a perfect fit thanks to Walt Howard and Tom Tveit, our veteran bus parking chairs. Walt was miraculous in getting Mustang Run closed and also getting parking allowed on Los Aliso for the day. A big woo-hoo to all of bus parking!
Raul Escobar and his hospitality staff kept our judges, directors and staff hydrated, fed and happy. It looked like a five star restaurant with green carpet! And thank you to everyone who donated a special salad or dessert! Our tournament is a top favorite due to our Trabuco Hills hospitality!
As an alumni parent, who returned as the venerable voice of TITH? By George, you are right, that was George Heer! What an entertaining wit he had, amusing the spectators and judges alike with his commentary. Great job!
Band Assistance did an astounding job getting bands in and out of a single gate! With Tom Smithson, Dave Yingling and John Selegean at the helm, the team was like a well oiled machine once it got going. Can’t wait until next year when we have no construction and a new flow to work with!
And speaking of Band Assistance… did you hear about the Palmdale story? The students arrived on time, but their truck was delayed in traffic. The truck got here at 6:15 and their performance time was 6:33. Can they make it? Well, Mike Fink and Frank Schaefer will take on any challenge and said “Absolutely!” They assisted the school by unloading the truck, hauling equipment on the quads and zooming into the stadium. The kids had to get their uniforms out of the truck, get dressed, and run to the stadium. It was quite a fire drill and believe it or not, they made it to their performance. On time! This is just one of many critical things Mike and Frank did during the day and night. Thank you guys!!!
To everyone who helped out, loaned items to us, and/or provided water & soda – THANK YOU!!! We hope you had as much fun as we did and hopefully you weren’t as tired and sore as we were, although I know many of you were. It was a very proud day for Trabuco Hills High School Music Boosters and we all deserve a big round of applause! See you again next year!!!
Sincerest Thanks,
